sight
Nina sees her first. Across the parking lot of Wolfram and Hart. It's a large parking lot. But she can make out even the smallest detail.
She has dark wavy hair, with a few random streaks of a very unnaturally light shade of blonde, intense blue eyes, and pale skin. She's beautiful, but that's not what really catches Nina's attention. Rather, it's the clothing she's sporting. A tight, low-cut white leather dress with very strategic cutouts, and matching white boots.
Nina doesn't mean to stare across the parking lot, but it's involuntary. She can't take her eyes off of her. Not because she's attracted to her - well, not just because she's attracted to her. There's another reason why she's staring at her. There is. Now if only Nina could think of it.
hearing
Nina hears her second. Not her voice, or her laugh. No, it was the sound of the leather-wrapped thighs as they gently brushed together as she walked that Nina picked up first.
And then - her hair. Hair - it shouldn't make noise, really it shouldn't - but Nina can pick up the tiniest sound now. A pin drop would be almost defeaning to her in this state. The intense superwerewolf hearing - it comes and goes as it pleases. Sometimes it only slightly enhances her natural hearing, but other times . . . other times she swears she *is* going to be deaf by the time it passes.
And then her voice - Nina hears her voice and it's too loud, way too loud. It hurts her ears. Nina closes her eyes, wishing she had a volume control for her life.
And then it passes. And the words become clear.
" . . . Charles Gunn?"
"I'm sorry, what?"
"Do you know Charles Gunn?"
"Gunn? Yeah, he's uh . . . he's Angel's friend, right?" Nina isn't sure if she should be afraid of this woman or not. She takes a step back just in case.
smell
Nina smells her third. She smells everything. She doesn't mean to, but she does. The scent of her perfume assaults her nose - she'd guess it was something expensive, very expensive. It smelled expensive, but she couldn't quite place it.
It's not just her perfume though, no she can pick out every other scent as well. Every little scent. The hair spray she used - it smelled like the kind that was supposed to have no scent but did anyway. The mint in her mouth - more like a breath mint - an Altoid or something - than freshly brushed teeth. The lipgloss that coated her mouth - it smelled distinctively like artificial strawberry. The nail polish on her nails - they weren't still wet but the smell remained anyway, at least to Nina it did. A slight smell of smoke hung over her as well. And the smell that Nina was trying desperately not to concentrate on - the smell of Gwen's arousal.
I guess she likes me.
Nina shook her head and concentrated instead on the words coming out of the woman's mouth. "Could you take me to him?"
"Sure, I guess." Nina leads the way into the building, the woman following closely. "He knows you?"
She nods and smiles slightly. "We had a thing a little while back. But that's between you and me, okay? I don't think he wants everyone to know he boinked the electrofreak." She paused. "I'm Gwen by the way."
Nina takes the 'electrofreak' comment in stride - in the past few weeks she's met so many strange people - but instead is taken aback by the 'had a thing' thing.
touch
In the elevator, Gwen presses the button - seeming to know what floor he's on. But that didn't strike Nina as odd. Instead, she was focused on the fact that she 'had a thing' with Gunn. Had, she tells herself. Yeah, another voice says, but she's probably completely straight.
Gwen looks around the elevator, a small smile on her face. "Angel and I kissed in an elevator like this."
Oh God. "Is there anyone you haven't had a thing with?" Nina quickly regrets the words after they leave her mouth, but Gwen just smiles.
"The pixie stick. Not that I'd really mind, but she's a little uptight, you know?"
For some reason this relieves Nina. She's not straight.
Before Nina can realize what she's doing, her hand is on the Gwen's shoulder and she's leaning in to kiss her.
taste
And Gwen's lips meet hers. Nina can taste the artificially flavored lipgloss on her lips and the breath mint on her tongue and Gwen presses her against the wall, her hands moving up her body. Just as Gwen's hand grazes her breast, the elevator dings and the doors slide open.
The women move apart quickly, both breathing hard.
"Well, this is his floor," Nina says softly.
Gwen grins, "I think we just had a thing."
And then Gwen leaves the elevator and the doors slide close behind her.
