Angel/Cordelia

Another Life
by inamorata
Darkfic; Drama; alt S3

Another version of how differently things might have gone if Cordelia and Angel hadn't met in Los Angeles. He got Doyle's visions and she ended up selling herself on the streets. Three years later, he saves her life and takes her home with him. Longish at 140K, it's a pretty dark story about two lonely people who've been badly hurt. And just when you think they're going to get a happy ever after… My favourite A/C story.

A Stitch in Time Book 2: The Eleventh Hour
by Yahtzee and Rheanna
AtS Ensemble (Angel/Cordelia UST, past Spike/Dru, Angelus/Darla)
Action/Adventure; S3
The continuation of The Tenth of Never, this is just as good as the first. The gang have to travel back in time again to make sure Dru doesn't change history - and in doing so, destroy the world. The characters are still exactly true to canon (I loved the Angel/Cordelia relationship in this), and 2002 Drusilla in 1898 is marvellous. Novel-length, and the writers should sell these two stories to the publishers of the tie-in novels.

Balance
by Don't Make Eye Contact
Angst; S3/4
Now this is a fascinating perspective on Cordy's time as a higher being and why she came back wrong. Clearly written before the Jasmine arc, it's AU by now, but it's still one of those stories that skews your view of the entire series.

Beacon
by Starlet
S1 (The Ring)
:fans self: Did it get hot in here, or?... Moody, atmospheric and beautiful season 1 C/A.

The Beggar's Gymkana
by Alex Dollard
AU; Romance

Angel/Cordelia, Buffy/Spike
I feel like I should be in an Alcoholics Anonymous type group for people who read High School AUs. This one grabbed my attention because it's focused on Angel/Cordelia rather than the standard Spuffy or B/A. It's short and has a simple plot (everyboy's human and in high school; Cordelia loves Angel, who has just broken up with Buffy, who is dating Spike) but the ending has a twist that turns it all on its head. I liked it.

Bound
by Inamorata
Romance; Action/Adventure; S1
Novella. Doyle's last vision leads to Angel and Cordelia becoming mystically bound to one another.
Damn the Torpedoes, Full Speed Ahead!
by Misty Flores
Humour; Romance; AU season 3
After they rescue baby Connor, Angel makes his feelings known to Cordy. It's fluffy, it's adorable, and it's more than a bit screwball-comedyish.

Deja Vu
by Little Heaven
Romance; Angst; late S2
Novella. A descendant of the gypsy tribe who cursed Angel shows up, bringing to light a prophecy. I'm always very wary of original female characters but this felt like an episode of the show.

Divided Heart
by Starlet
Angst; post-Spin the Bottle

Short Cordelia character piece right after she regains her memories. It was Jossed by later events, but it's still pretty.

The Eighth Circle
by Loki
Fred, Angel/Cordelia
AU S4
Fred Burkle, girl detective, keeps notes on Angel and Cordelia's new relationship. Eek. Creepy as hell, because we have information Fred doesn't.

The Gentle Art of Compromise
by Dazzle
Angst

A sad, bittersweet one-sided love story from two points of view. Sometimes relationships aren't about passion - they're about compromise.

Heat Stroke
by Starlet
Action/Adventure; Drama; post To Shanshu in LA
Novel. A mage banishes Angel and Cordelia to a seemingly endless desert. As the days pass it starts to look like this new situation is permanent. Great Cordy POV and a very believable escalation of their relationship.

Laughter in the Rain
by Jeanny
Humour; post That Vision Thing

Sweet, funny drabble about Angel trying to talk to Cordy about her visions. A nice little snapshot of a moment between two friends.

Leaving Hell
by Vanessa Nichols
Angst; The Wish
This makes two changes to The Wish (Buffy didn't release Angel from his cell, and Giles didn't destroy the amulet in time) and creates a nightmare for Cordelia. After cajoling Angel into becoming her bodyguard, she makes for LA, but what next? Novel-length. Depressing, but more than worth it.

Line in the Sand
by Dazzle
Romance; Drama

There's a line between them that shouldn't be crossed - but they keep redrawing it over and over. This is just lovely. The best word I can think of is bittersweet.

Merciful
by Jennifer-Oksana
Darkfic; Futurefic

Darkfic, ten years in the future; in a universe where the Powers didn't make Cordelia part demon. So Angel found another solution. Short fic that's very dark and disturbing.

Profaned
by Dazzle
Darkfic; S3

Angelus/Cordelia, warnings for rape. This one's dark, dark, dark, kiddies. The story itself is set in the aftermath - after Angel comes down from the doximal, after Cordelia's killed Lilah for drugging him and after it's far too late for them to salvage the kind of relationship they had before. The writing's astonishing - my hands were shaking when I finished this, and my heart hurt like crazy for Cordy.

Queen of the Night
by Starlet
Romance; Angst; mid-S3
Cordelia has to spend time away from Angel to work out what this whole Champion/Seer thing is about. Novel-length.

Radiance
by Loki
Humour; Angst; Romance; crossover with BtVS (after Wrecked and Birthday, before Waiting in the Wings)

Angel and Cordy come back to Sunnydale, and Buffy and Xander are startled by the changes in Cordelia. Meanwhile, Angel is struggling with his feelings for her. I loved the characterisations and dialogue.

Storm Front
by Starlet
Angst; S2
'A/C smut on the hood of Angel’s car. In the rain. On the worst night of Cordy’s life.' Set during the beige Angel arc. No words for how much I love Cordelia in this. And the hot C/A sex doesn't hurt.

Thaw
by Dazzle
Angel/Cordelia, Angel/Buffy
AU; Romance; Angst; crossover with Buffy; pre Spin the Bottle

Still suffering from amnesia, Cordy summons a demon to try to regain her memory. It doesn't go as planned, and she finds herself in an alternate reality where Angel and Buffy never broke up, the Scoobies are dead and Adam controls the Hellmouth. Angel finds himself drawn to Cordelia's story of a universe where he had a mission and a son, while his relationship with Buffy starts to implode. I loved the look at how things could have gone in another universe - people who lived instead of died, and vice versa - and this has one of the best treatments of Riley I've read.

Trial Period
by Alex Dollard
Drama; Futurefic

Ends up A/C, but it's about Cordy and her journey as she fights the good fight in those other planes of existence Skip told her about. I love a story that can work a Good Omens reference in, and the vision of the future this presents is great, giving us just enough information to bring us up to speed (I liked the names on the "For the Fallen" plaque). There's mention of B/S too as Cordelia gathers up the other vampire with a soul along the way. Don't want to spoil it, but when Angel and Cordy finally meet again there's a physical complication that's very clever and something I hadn't thought of.

The Uninvited Guest
by Yahtzee
Drama; Character Study; Futurefic
Angel/Cordelia, Gunn/Faith, Buffy/Angel, Buffy/Spike, Fred/Connor, others

You know how sometimes everyone is telling you how great a story is and so you avoid it because you think it can't be that good? This is one of those. And it really is that good. Set a few years after Willow's rampage destroys all of the Sunnydale crew save Buffy and Spike (who appears in only one scene but whose fate left me screaming at the screen), this sees the AI gang taking in both Buffy and a recently-paroled Faith. Buffy appears only in flashback, though - the main storyline is set a year after her vicious murder, as the Watchers close in on the suspect. Essentially it's a whodunit, but it's a lot more complex than that. The story's style means that the voices are vital - each chapter is narrated by a different character - and the writer pulls it off brilliantly. The main 'ship is A/C, but just about everything (canon and non) gets a nod. Just read this one. Oh, and it's a novel, so leave yourself some time: once I started it I couldn't tear myself away.

Valentine the Destroyer
by Corinna
Angst; Character Study; post Waiting in the Wings

As he quietly seethes with jealousy over Cordelia's involvement with the Groosalug, Angel thinks back to atrocities he and Darla committed on Valentine's Day. Shippy only in the unrequited longing sense - excellent character voices, especially the Darla cameo.
