A Bad Day
by The Brat Queen
Humour; S2
Angel/Wes fluffiness makes me go marshmallowy. This teeny fic is a case in point.
And They Dance
by James Walkswithwind
Romance; Futurefic
PG rated sweet short story set about thirty years in the future about two people in love and completely comfortable with one another. The ending's been done in other stories, but rarely this well.
Parted
by James Walkswithwind
Romance; Humour; S3
The writer fixes all the heart-wrenching angst of Sleep Tight by having Wesley wake up from a very strange dream where Angel and Darla had a child. Season three was excellent, but I really needed to read something like this. Loved Angel offering to get a dog and call it Connor, and all the good-natured teasing between him and Wesley.
Everybody Fell
by The Brat Queen
Angst; Romance; post Epiphany
After Angel's return to the team, Wes is still deeply hurt by his betrayal. Angel's clumsy attempts to make it up to him lead to revelations about their feelings for each other. This author has Wesley's voice down.
Liberty Rules
by The Brat Queen
Angst; Romance
Sequel to "Everybody Fell"; 2nd in the Epiphany series. This is a funny, sweet piece about the guys coming out to Gunn and Cordy. Cordelia's reaction is wonderful, and Gunn threatening Angel ("You and me, we're friends. But Wes is my boy. If you disrespect him…") was just great.
Lies
by The Brat Queen
Angst; Magic Bullet
Beautiful look at how Angel and Wesley's relationship changes under Jasmine's influence, and what happens when the spell is broken. The ending made me well up.
The Million Miles Away Series
by the Brat Queen and Wolfling
1. Start Again
2. Settling In
3. Baby Steps
After an angst-fest this week as I watched Loyalty, Sleep Tight and The Price together, this is what I needed to read. It's an AU branching off after Sleep Tight, with the premise that Wesley changed his plans at the last minute and confided in Angel about the prophecy. With the hotel under attack from Holtz's gang, the two of them flee to Canada with Connor.
There's no overt slash in the first two chapters, but the UST and domesticity (buying a house to raise their boy in) just made me feel fluffy and melty. There's plenty of angst, though, as Angel's mad as hell that Wesley came so close to taking his son and Wes is frightened that they'll never be friends again.
Fascinating idea, and I can't wait to see how this turns out.
My First Love Letter
by Pet
Character Study; alt-S2
After his death, Wesley gets a chance to write a last letter to Angel. The "love letter" isn't gushing or trite - instead it's ever so composed and mundane and perfectly Wesley as he focuses on those left behind. Made me well up.
New Things
by WesleysGirl
Humour; Romance; S2
Fairly long and fluffy story that sees Angel and Wes dared to try out some new things.
This leads to Angel trying out the swings at a kids' playground and Wes getting very
stoned, among other things, while UST builds between them.
On Their Own
by The Brat Queen
Humour; Action; series
Angel/Wesley. Part of the Epiphany series, but can easily be read as a standalone. Angel, Wes, Cordy and Gunn have a fun night out at a bar. It's the dialogue that sells this, and the camaraderie between the gang was great.
Strategy
by The Brat Queen
Connor/Wesley, Angel/Wesley
Darkfic; Angst; AU from Sacrifice
I followed this in chapters on TBQ's Livejournal. When I say "followed" I mean "was
addicted to the point that I wanted to stalk the author and give her cookies." This
constructs a plausible AU from the Jasmine arc; Angel's team form a resistance
movement based in the sewers beneath Los Angeles, until Wesley is taken prisoner by
Connor. If you don't like your characters hurt/broken you might want to stop reading
right about there, because this goes very dark. Deals with rape and violent sexual
abuse, but it's far more than a fic that's dark for the sake of being dark. It
travels deep into the psyches of Wes, Connor and (to a lesser degree) Angel and
pulls out some twisted things.
Wesley Gets
by The Brat Queen
Humour; Fluff
Angel/Wesley fluffiness in which Wesley acquires a kitty called Phillip and Angel reluctantly plays at cat-sitter. This is cute, funny and G-rated.
